Attract the Right Job or Clientele:
Do You Huddle for Strategy?
Much of the population admires sports teams, watches the games, and is curious as teams huddle for strategy. However, the huddle practice should set business executives back on their heels to rethink their strategy. Similarly, networking groups of entrepreneurs will also do well to review and tweak their approach.
The essence of the huddle is teamwork, inclusiveness, and collaborative efforts. When one person wins, everyone wins. Sadly, rarely does corporate work that way, aggravating many and needlessly taking away from the bottom line. Much work is necessary to revitalize the teamwork theory, making it a distinct reality along with the huddle for strategy. Dare to be an inclusive leader.
My Story
I met a woman with a bright future in sales. Her experience is remarkable, and she brings much to the table. She was horrified to take a sales position at a known company that employs forty salesmen but only two saleswomen. Moreover, there is little doubt that women feel excluded from conversations and most likely do not freely offer input during team meetings. Most likely, a team huddle is a foreign concept to the staff.
Companies will do their best by seriously considering the advantages of the team huddle strategy and adapting it to the business model. Inclusion is one bonus; moreover, equal pay proves to the staff that the executives believe in collaborative teamwork and that every voice matters.
Assess Current Communications
Many companies openly state they strive to help communities at large. But the first community they are to assist is their staff. Management will do well to assess the nature of the interactions among team players to ensure everyone feels welcome. Otherwise, the revolving door syndrome will rear its ugly head to eat up some of the bottom line needlessly.
Transform Habits
Consider hosting an out-of-office team play, mirroring sports teams gently for everyone to participate. Call time-outs when the strategy does not work to include a team huddle and discuss the better approach to follow.
The practice and the encouragement of everyone’s involvement will make its way into the office for better outcomes all the way around. Ultimately, you will build staff loyalty and longer-term employees, aiding the bottom line.
Your Story: Do You Huddle for Strategy?
The first step is to reconcile whether you believe you employ effective teams or if it’s time to adapt a ‘huddle for strategy’ work model.
Consider whether the team meetings include the following:
- Team spirit
- Welcoming input from all
- Enjoyment with creative ideas abounding
Alternate indoor and outdoor activities as the weather allows. Varying environments will encourage creative thought and inspiring ideas. Ultimately, everyone benefits from the open and inviting atmosphere.
Be the Model for Striving to Improve
The next step is to determine if the promotion of employees is fair or if only one sector benefits. Wherever you recognize inequality in an approach or traditional arrangement, now is the time to reconcile what isn’t right to implement a better action moving forward.
Upon creating a new plan, it is time once again to implement the huddle for strategy. Share with your teams the realizations coming to you and the ideas to improve upon fairness. Upon completing your insights in front of the group (s), request their input to enhance future teamwork.
Next, create a doctrine specifically stating how future operations are to work and gain agreement from all in your employ. Listen carefully to any disagreement to ensure you have the best terms to offer.
In Conclusion: Do You Huddle for Strategy?
Beware that nothing remains as is forever as times and technology change. Last, be open to changing times and revising the doctrine upon vowing to adhere to fairness and equity for all.
