Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:
Is Permission Necessary to Achieve Success?
Most of us are taught in childhood that to proceed, we need permission, but is permission necessary to achieve success? Perhaps the question opens the proverbial ‘can of worms,’ but the answer is worthy of exploration.
To excel, we need to know what we want precisely and desire to achieve. Not everyone will be on board with us for numerous reasons. Some will scoff and say the idea is ridiculous without attempting to understand the purpose. Others will not take the time to listen to the reasoning for the desire behind the effort underway. Often, the person facing ridicule finds the need to journey alone until the mountain of uncertainty is finally behind them. Only then will others want to participate in some fashion.
My Story
Assuming everything is ethical and above board, why is permission necessary to succeed? The reference to consent relates to friends, co-workers, or those in our professional network who may or may not approve of the unusual idea.
Sure, it’s nice to receive an agreement that our concept is sound, but if we do not receive it, is it time to give up? I don’t believe so, yet many people quit their endeavors accordingly. They are the ones who short-change themselves because they will never know whether their idea would work or lead to something more robust that will prove successful.
Creative ideas are never in short supply. But the status of one declines when most ridicule new thought and won’t for a second consider a new idea. On the other hand, those who think differently will benefit themselves and, potentially, the public, too. Society is abundant with ingenuity; new developments today include:
- Solar Energy
- Robotics
- Electric Cars
- Space Travel
- Technological advancement behind all of the inventions
How are the inventors able to identify what they want and move forward without outside support should that be necessary? The following lyrics come to mind for the song,
‘Only the Strong Will Survive’:
You can’t keep up with the runnin’ & hidin’
You tell yourself that you can’t take no more
Time’s running out, they say you’ll never last
You’ll soon find out that
Only the strong will survive
Ideas for business come in many shapes and sizes; some require huge investments and financial partners, while others may be for a lone entrepreneurial endeavor. Regardless, we each face the need to be strong. Planning on multiple levels, including much research, budgeting, hiring help when necessary, partnering when beneficial, and willingness to revise what does not work are some personality traits that help the front runners continue moving forward.
Your Story: Is Permission Necessary to Achieve Success?
Each person is unique, with ideas that differ from the rest of the population. Ambition is fragile, and you must examine it from multiple angles to determine whether you are ready to go or refrain from attempting to advance. Commitment is an essential piece of the puzzle to continue onward even when it feels as if everything is going by the wayside.
Many people who initially enter entrepreneurship believe their talent is all they need to succeed. But that thought is rarely the case. Obstacles of a great variety soon appear that detract from the original initiative. Worse, financial woes can enter the scenario, making the situation seem impossible. Accordingly, most will quit their endeavors in the early stage.
Rather than seeking permission to proceed, stubbornness is a trait that will help one to succeed. No matter what lies in the road ahead to block you, the stubborn element will enable you to find a workaround. It is truly the strong that will survive.
In Conclusion:
Permission is not necessary to achieve success. The only requirement is the ability to ignore the nay-sayers and be stubborn enough to continue going until you arrive where you want to be. Only you know what matters most to you. Ignoring what matters to us only contributes to our living with regret. However, it is our commitment to being true to ourselves that will bring out the joy and celebration on behalf of our achievements.
