Are you following the steps?

On today’s radio interview, Karen Ellenbecker, host of   Money Sense  radio show asked excellent questions about preparation prior to the interview.  Keep in mind the answers are the same for making a sale.  I will list the top suggestions of how to make a great first impression so that you may get the sale or hear HIRED!

1.  Read the website in its entirety; qualify whether it sounds interesting

2.  Read the business news daily; apply to the company, competitors and industry; qualify further if still interested

3.  Practice interview at a competitor to get an inside feel for the industry

4.  Wear clothing that makes you feel powerful or extra energetic

5.  Arrive 10 minutes early for the interview in order to play detective in the lobby

6.  Treat everyone you encounter in the office as an equal and with a smile

7.  Conduct a 2-way conversation asking intelligent questions

8.  Before you speak, get the client or hiring company’s point of view first; bridge your answers to your talent

9.  Answer objections with a smile by agreeing, and then put a new perspective on the matter

10.  Conclude by asking if you are the type of candidate / service provider they are seeking
