Developing Your Brand
This morning I had the honor of being interviewed by Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino of Best Ever You Blog Talk Radio and her co-host, Dr. Katie. The unifying theme was “Integrity”. I relayed my favorite Tweet is, “When you move with integrity, you never have to change your story.” This has actually become part of my personal brand.
My last corporate job was waiting for me to make very large sales but had no intention of putting the program into place. They simply wanted to benefit from the money to be received. Once ther realization hit, I quit. But before walking out the door, I phoned everyone lined up to buy that I had just turned in my resignation and they better take a few minutes to contemplate the reasons why.
Taking that risky action was the most important one I could take for my own well-being knowing I did the right thing. My to-be-clients greatly appreciated the call. As it turned out, this was the beginning of the dotcom bust period. But I could exit with a clear conscience and start out with a clean slate on a new venture.
What is your personal brand that others note about you? What makes you most proud? What can you convey to hiring managers on interviews or to new potential clients? Knowing your priorities will help you develop your personal brand and help make it a Smooth Sale!
