Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

Vital Lessons from Our Veterans for Business Growth

In honor of Veterans Day, thought is given to the heroics of those who serve(d) on many levels. Typically, war comes to mind, and the bravery it takes to enlist. On this day, we feel both pride and sadness due to the people we lost. Individuals and companies will do well to pause for a moment to recognize the vital lessons from our veterans for business growth, plus personal growth, too.

My father enlisted in WWII; thankfully, he returned in good shape except for enduring nightmares. But his relentless message at every dinner was, ‘Never give up-you can always find a better way’. For story-sharing, he used athletes as the prime example.

Behind the scenes, on military bases, it seems as if training is ongoing; included is encouragement to move past the barriers. Moreover, enlistees are trained to work together with strategic maneuvers in mind. Teamwork is everything during stressful and dangerous times. Let’s consider how the military experience can model change and improvement for the corporate side of life.

Vital Lessons from Our Veterans

‘All for One, One for All’

The expression is almost a fantasy in the corporate world, where the opposite exists for the most part. Judgement and put-downs are typical while others argue in fear of the other person getting promoted.

If leadership were to create and require ongoing unity for support of one another, outcomes will likely improve, alongside benefiting the bottom line. The efforts can empower a ‘win for all’.

Community

Like military efforts striving in some areas to improve the environment, corporations will do well to model ongoing projects to help those and various environments in need.

Next, treat the corporate offices as your community. Ensure that the entire space is healthy on all levels, including that all technology is up-to-date and functioning properly. Do everything available and possible to ensure the prevention of cyberattacks. Update your knowledge on the latest techniques for them to privately prevent individual cyberattacks.

Another important reason why employees remain over the long term is that they recognize that you have their safety and well-being in mind, plus encouragement is seen and felt at every stage of their employment.

Celebrate Victory

Small wins deserve recognition, too. Continue emphasizing camaraderie with celebratory events such as picnics and team sports outdoors, and a special meal indoors as the weather necessitates.

Conclusion: Vital Lessons from Our Veterans for Business Growth

The military models leadership, encouragement, motivation, and celebration of everyone involved. In this regard, copying those efforts at the corporate level is likely to benefit staff, leadership, and the bottom line.
