Making Vacation A True Holiday

Being mobile brings both good and bad news.  It’s great we can move or go anywhere our heart’s desire and take our business with us.  But what about those days where you just want to “go” and leave business behind?

Just as with career and and business devleopment, vacation from work takes planning too.  Planning ahead, allow yourself at least a month to complete all that needs to be done.  This may include projects, promised client delivery, or getting your updated resume to the inquiring recruiters.

Are there aspects of your business that need to be tended to on a daily basis even while on vacation?  Can you trade with someone you trust or are you able to take care of it swiftly so as not to disrupt a large portion of the day?  List out all of these tasks so at the very least, you have a to-do checklist to complete efficiently while gone.

Commit to a maximum of work time while away, particularly if you are with family or friends.  If need be, wake up early or complete at night after others are asleep.  By tending to what needs to be done effectively, and having the days to look forward to with companions, you will have a great vacation.  And the to-do’s will seem like Smooth Sale!
