Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

A Better Path Awaits 

Are you in a career you mostly enjoy but are substantially undervalued?  Do you run a business only to recognize a steady job will be an easier and steadier path?  The need to make a decision affecting a large portion of your life can be, at the very least, overwhelming. However, by pursuing what we want, we come to realize that a better path awaits.

Two Camps per New Jobs

There is the theory that your resume should pinpoint precisely what you wish to do in your next career.  By presenting a well-defined goal, doubt is greatly diminished in the mind of the recruiter or hiring manager.  Fewer opportunities will come your way, but when they do, you will find a shorter path to hearing HIRED!

On the other hand, many operate with the expression in mind, “It’s like throwing spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks”.  Posting a resume with broader emphasis has the potential of attracting a wider variety of opportunities.  The downside to this approach is, this takes more time to weed out the less appealing jobs in order to find the better suited.  But the upside is not previously considered opportunities will be presented that are of interest and worth pursuing. It becomes evident that a better path awaits.

Entrepreneurs

Similarly, there are two styles of entrepreneurships.  The first consists of those who know exactly what they were born to do and have a handle on how to get it done.  But when times change, the study changes to the tiniest detail prior to adapting to what is already in place.

The other community of entrepreneurship thrives on trial and error.  When something doesn’t work, they analyze, study, ask for help and keep fixing it until they get it right.  On some occasions, they are glad to learn their idea doesn’t work so that they may proceed to Plan B without looking back. Instead, upon moving forward they realize that a better plan awaits.

Plan B: A Better Plan Awaits 

It is rare that everything will work perfectly the first time out, particularly when your career is at stake.  For this reason alone, you need to know yourself inside out and come to terms with the actual you.

Applying to all jobs posted, or accepting everyone as a client, benefits few.  The real reward comes from recognizing where you find joy and reward in your work.  Take time to reflect upon everything you have achieved to date and how you may expand further as your next opportunity materializes. 

Your willingness to nimbly make a change and acknowledge error lets you realize a better plan awaits. And success will lead you to the Smooth Sale!
