Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:

Are You Accidentally Making A Negative Impact On Leads?

Entrepreneurs work long hours studying the aspects of keywords, landing pages and SEO strategy that provide a positive impact on leads. Unfortunately, some are unknowingly killing their prized leads. The same is true of professional salespeople who diligently attempt to build their sales pipeline only to see the leads go cold. And those attempting to find a new job face similar problems. By examining the major areas of disconnect, you will be able to greatly improve each situation to make a positive impact on leads.

Action speaks louder than words and the right action earns trust.

My Story

Over the years, I have become a free spirit with providing qualified referrals. In fact, I get excited when I recognize two parties that might connect well and am able to help with the introduction.

A friend reciprocated with an introduction. The person to whom I was introduced was impressed by my immediate follow-up. I relayed that for me prompt follow-up is crucial. Sales taught me that the people to whom I am introduced will quickly lose interest if they are not contacted promptly. The expression, “strike while the iron is hot”, comes to mind, but with the purpose of making a positive impact on leads.

When you make the introduction, there is one additional step. Follow up with both parties after they meet to see how the conversation went. You want to be certain that you can rely on the people you introduce. An immediate connection should be made, and a report of the parties enjoying a fruitful conversation should be received. Otherwise, your own credibility will be hurt if one of the parties does not live up to your standards, but you continue to refer them anyway.  Revising the habit will lead you to creating a positive impact on leads.

Your Story: Are You Accidentally Making A Negative Impact On Leads?

Consider the past introductions you received.

  • Did you quickly contact the person introduced?
  • Did you quickly thank the person making the introduction?
  • After your conversation with the new acquaintance, did you provide an update to the person who made the introduction?

These are time management skills. They also demonstrate appreciation and professionalism. Should you be ignoring the introductions, future possibilities will quickly fade away. And if this occurs, credibility and trust are at stake. In turn, clientele may also fade away.

On the corporate sales side, if warm leads aren’t promptly responded to they will quickly grow cold. The same is true with contacting hiring managers for an interview. In any of these situations, you have to demonstrate the desire to earn the business to be able to turn the negative into a positive impact on leads.

Sales Tips: Are You Accidentally Making A Negative Impact On Leads?

  3. Promptly contact the lead with a choice of dates and times for getting together.
  4. Volunteer to make the call or provide a choice of places to meet.
  5. Seek to learn more about the person and their work when you do connect.
  6. Upon hearing areas of commonality, point those out.
  7. Inquire of the goals and projects on the table, and share yours.
  8. Ask how you might help each person to create a positive impact on leads.
  9. Exchange ideas and potentially new connections to earn a positive impact on leads!
  10. Thank the person for their time, insights and promptly reach out to the new connections.
