Attract the Right Job or Clientele:
Increase Positive Response with One Result-Driven Strategy
How we communicate affects all areas of our life. It is the basis for developing solid relationships of both a personal and business nature. It is the direct and honest communication that serves us best when we meet face to face for either business or job interviews.
Online communication may be either direct or indirect, but certainly is to be honest at all times. The direct route online, using Twitter as an example, is to include a link for where you would like to direct readers to visit. The indirect route is to share your best insights for others to improve their game. I was taught this indirect route takes precedence over the direct route while online.
The purpose of the indirect communication online is to first attract those truly interested. As people begin to message you on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn etc., it becomes a basis for having a meaningful conversation.
The best sales strategy is to engage your audience and clientele.
My Story
During my sales career, I noticed that those who knew the most about the technology behind what we were to sell, and bragged about it, were the worst at bringing in sales. Why? They loved the technology too much. They should have built a career in IT. Their prospective clients were bored to tears, and dreaded the prospect of having to work with them.
What clients want is:
- To understand how your services will improve business and make life easier?
- They want to be engaged in conversation to get to know you.
- The bonus is seen when areas of commonality are found such as hobbies.
Engaging audiences and clientele in meaningful conversation, at every turn, is essential for building your personal brand, career, and sales. This touches every type of endeavor.
For example:
- Speakers should engage with their audience
- Retailers should thank people for visiting their establishment upon entry and departure
- Online activity should include quick response to messages received
Your Story
This weekend, take time to consider all of your communication practices.
Do you:
- Make your communication personal yet professional?
- Train employees to do the same?
- Use consistency in all communication to best understand prospective clients?
If you employ a team, be certain they are communicating as you wish. They represent you and your company. If you are using scripts for complex sales, train users on how to personalize these to sound authentic. Otherwise, prospective clients can hear the script being read. They then refuse further communication. Suggestion: Eliminate the script to increase positive response.
