Are You Happy with Current Results?

We each have unique goals and desire satisfaction upon achievements that prompt the question, ‘Are you happy with current results?’ Many factors out of our control can hinder progress. However, we can improve our outcomes by concentrating on that which is in our control.

My Story

Through the years and many career styles, the repeated message came across that for us to succeed, we are to build genuine relationships with the people we meet. At the top of the list for connecting is that all parties be ethical and trustworthy. Position in a company, wealth, or status of any other type has no bearing. It’s more important to connect with those who appear helpful and kind to be our priority. When connecting with entrepreneurs, it is best to hold complementary visions to assist one another in some format. Last, those with whom we choose to have a conversation(s) will stimulate ideas for us to move forward.

The better success strategy in larger companies is to omit the ‘Totem Pole’ attitude and treat everyone respectfully. Without training, I sought out the kind, helpful people in corporations during my sales career. The conversations began with asking how the ‘lower level’ employees enjoy their work. They were surprised that I was interested in speaking with them one-on-one, which eventually led to their guidance on gaining access to the executive suite.  

As an entrepreneur, the experience of connecting well did not occur for me until social media came alive. The world is at our fingertips. We have the choice to reach out to connect and communicate with anyone we desire. I’ve said this before, but I find the following to be the differentiator:

“The time investment of researching another person’s profile before asking to connect proves worthy and, over time, highly valuable.

My networks gradually grew both in number and value on many levels. Introductions in general, business referrals, and media interviews of every type came my way. In the initial research, we get a glimmer of what the other person holds significant. The follow-up conversations enable us to learn more. Sure, it’s time-consuming but so well-worthwhile.

This week is the perfect example of the time investment and journey that lead up to the connections we make. Upon connecting with someone new on a social platform, we enjoyed our initial conversations. The person then made a surprise introduction for me to Onalytica. Their website signifies, ‘The World’s Largest B2B Influencer Marketplace.’ I was soon asked permission for the site to feature my blog entries as an ‘Influencer.’

To my delight and surprise, Onalytica recently asked permission to interview me.  I am more than happy with the current results of the interview! Better yet, along with the likes, I’m seeing motivating comments posting, too, encouraging the commitment in place.

Media interviews are steadily happening today, and it all began with the initial intent to connect with the people who share interests, ideas, and introductions.  It is the collaborative effort that succeeds best.  From the business perspective, we build a brand that becomes known, and it all begins with paying attention to the connections we make and keep.

Our business depends upon the quality of the connections we make wherever we may be.  Ask yourself, ‘are you happy with current results?’ Should the answer be negative, consider what you may change in your routine.

Take time to review the actions you take upon meeting someone new, whether in person or online.  Most people, upfront, strive to impress those they meet.  Should this describe your typical approach, give the opposite a try to see what happens.  Be the first to inquire what the other person does and is hoping to accomplish.  Listen for how you may be of assistance or share ideas that come to mind as they speak.  The outcome may be very different from the norm. Empathy works best.

  1. Upon asking to connect with someone new, relay about their endeavors that caught your interest.
  2. Attempt to connect the dots between the two of you for continuing a conversation.
  3. Listen carefully to what the other person is attempting to accomplish.
  4. Upon listening and hearing the ideas, make inquiries as ideas come to you.
  5. Offer appropriate introductions to your new contact.
  6. Comment on the posts of the people you admire.
  7. Share the posts you particularly like with your audience.
  8. Monitor the sharing activities to see if you receive similar shares with your content.
  9. Consistently follow up in all formats to gradually build a recognizable brand.
  10. Celebrate Success!
