Recognizing Opportunity

Sometimes we are so focused on the job search or finding new clients that we don’t recognize opportunities that are presented to us.  I admit I almost made the mistake myself.

We travelled to another city for relaxation as well as to get together with old friends.  “Jana” happens to live in that city too and asked we get together on Saturday evening.  Our intilal thought was to enjoy entertainment in the city, but realized it would be nice to see Jana again and meet some of her other friends who were also invited over for a little party.

Accepting the invitation, we met an international crowd and enjoyed hearing of everyone’s life expereinces.  One woman, in particular, had just gotten started in the field of sales and was unsure of herself in that realm.  Upon hearing I was the author of a sales book, she purchased it on the spot via her iPhone.  She also asked to connect with me this week.  I just sent her an email.

The business connection at my friend’s party was completely unexpected.  It became the bonus for the evening.  Most of all, we had a good time with my friend and her friends too.  It was one opportunity I’m glad we did not turn down.

By getting out of your own way, it is possible an employment conversation will arise or your next client will be gifted to you which makes for a very Smooth Sale!
