While I am not a black and white person and do not care for bookkeeping, I recognize the importance of having processes in place to make business a swift progression in the right direction.  More importantly, I always ask for feedback as to how the experience has been.  Sometimes we do not want to hear complaints, but when we brace ourselves to listen, much may be learned.

“John”, a seasoned entrepreneur,  was starting his new venture and asked me to participate.  There were a few misunderstandings along the way.  My mantra is, “Always make it easy for the other person to say, Yes!”

My feedback in ironing out some of the issues that arose included:

1.  Outline what the other party may expect by working with you – the processes involved

2.  Provide a timeline for when each step will be or should be adhered to

3.  Detail what your expectations are of the person helping you and what you will provide to make it easy for them to help!

Remember, your help or employees are not mind readers.  Keep them informed every step of the way and behave as a reporter delivering the how, what, who, when, where and why so that you are both on the same page.  Should an affiliate program be involved, provide them links for postings and clear instructions of the where and how to sign in to monitor results.

As a job-seeker, when you interview with companies, ask for timelines, expectations of the job and what the hiring manager’s ultimate vision of an exceptional candidate might be.  Once you are well aware of what is being asked of you, it is far easier to deliver beyond expectations to hear HIRED!
