“Matching” Sells

Upon reading Friday’s blog, I was questioned this morning, on “How do I explain I spent the past year on social networks, blogging and learning more about social media?
My response was, “You are in the perfect position for interviewing for a great job!” The sales techniques involved direclty apply to acquiring new clients too, and here they are:
1. Be current on the news
2. Know where the company is today whether for a job or for converting a prospect to client
3. Match your new found talent of social media usage to the company’s benefit
As far as the news goes, just recently, Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, announced at his conference that corporations now need to be actively involved with social media. In my mind this includes blogging, video, and all other technology that expands your brand awareness. On an interview whether with a potential client or a hiring manager, question upfront how well they making use of these new tools. You then explain how your new found education and success may create a better team dynamic within the company in addition to the services or skill set desired.
The matching becomes your “value-add” or extras that you bring to the table. Once you become accustomed to finding the extras that you may provide clients or hiring companies, and present it in story-telling format, you hold a much stronger position for hearing HIRED! or SOLD!
These steps will put you on the stream to a Smooth Sale!
Remember, the interview is all about the hiring company, how you fill their void plus some, and the sale is about how you solve your prospect’s problems plus some. Remember to consider the AmericaHires360 virtual job fair at no charge for job seekers.
