Many business people are concerned about “business development” because it appears larger than life in their eyes and fear sets in thinking about having to ask for money or the business. The opposite is true when you indicate you are there to provide help.
Help may come in many forms such as providing knowledge, connections or support. As you network online or in-person, and as you proceed in the friendly associate manner, you will attract a far wider audience. The attitude of helpfulness becomes a piece of your personal brand. It will attract opportunity and encourage others to recommend you. Online you will find increased followings, “likes”, attendance at events, and a higher number of impressions for what you post.
Traditionally, impression refers to how you come across to another. I find it a wonderful coincidence that the word “impression” refers to your article, advertisement or posting is clicked upon. Consistency among everything you do will create a favorable impression thereby building your brand and business. When you add being of service, heads begin to turn and business development becomes a very Smooth Sale!
