Interviewing Well for Media or A Job
Business owners need to get their messages heard through multiple disciplines, and job seekers may line up added interviews doing this too. How you share your story will make all the difference of whether you hear SOLD! or HIRED!
In discussion today with Lillian Brummet of Conscious Discussion, we both agreed it is the human connection or personal story that will have the show host or the hiring manager buy into what you are sharing. Make your interviews both professional and personal. Here are a few tips:
1. Become a story-teller; in 1-2 minutes offer examples of past experience that hold drama or bring a smile and demonstrate your achievement
2. As the person interviewing shares something you know you have in common, let them know when it’s your turn to reply
3. Return questions and listen with equal sincerity to their answers demonstrating you are there to do your best
These tips apply to working with prospects and clients too. When they see you are striving to understand them, build the relationship, and deliver your best, they will be far more likely to move forward with your services.
Building upon all of this, will earn you a returning and referring clientele as well as the Smooth Sale!
Today’s interview with Lillian Brummet of “Consious Discussions” is for job seekers offering advice ranging from research prior to the itnerview to negotiating at the right time.
