Your Backup Plan
Elements of my business were involved with three crises:
– Website
My website was hacked and luckily a web designer/developer was able to recapture and improve the security. Initially a “basket case” the frustration lessened as it was pieced back together.
Early in the game, my group was violated by an unknown. Once again I was stressed but calmed down more quickly as I recognized I had a capable team surrounding me. Sure enough, the group was rescued quickly.
Somehow I was locked out of my own account. My following had grown substantially to almost 28,000 followers and I was planning to tweet an upcoming event. Had I not had the previous track record, I would have been insanely stressed but this time chose to ignore the difficulty believing somehow it would be fixed. A week passed and my account is back up operating beautifully.
All of these situations taught me, no matter what you do in life, including business, interviewing for jobs, or advancing your career, you need a plan A and a plan B. Your backup plan will rescue you out of a disaster. In my case, I have incredible partners on whom I may rely and trust with confidential information.
Are you able to say the same? It’s well worth developing the relationships and trust to have a highly reliable backup plan in place.
