Budgeting time and money for All Occasions

I am now in the process of planning family and business events.  Time is of the essence and there just isn’t enough of it.  Details need to be taken care of, email responded to, and the phone keeps ringing.  Then there is social media and commitment for writing articles.  I know somehow this will all get accomplished but the dilemma also provides ideas for our businesses.

Prioritize the most important venues to be taken care of first.  Of these venues, prioritize what needs to be accomplished for each.  List the calls, the follow-up, and the additional tasks you need to complete.  If need be, move away from your phone or disconnect so you are able to complete the tasks more quickly without interruption.  Recommendations may come in for those to contact.  You can’t call everyone in the same day.  Prioritize who to contact first.   In these regards it is a matter of budgeting your time.

Hosting events sometimes incur expenses you didn’t originally anticipate.  Set a modest budget for each knowing the possibility exists for added costs such as printing, extra people in town or a supplier passing their increased cost to you.  Create a spreadsheet with all the possible expenses you imagine are awaiting you and diligently fill the numbers in as you move along.  This will help you to remain on track and not over budget.

What does this have to do with interviewing?  Sometimes you will need to travel for an interview, purchase a new outfit or a trendy portfolio to showcase your talent.  You will also need to fit the travel inbetween other potential interviews to ensure being on time for all.

Setting goals within your time and monetary budgets will help you achieve the Smooth Sale!
