Lessons Learned Produce Improved Results
This week, I caught up with a few entrepreneurial friends each of whom represent different industries. One is in the retail arena, another an inspirational coach and another in the business development arena. Interestingly, they all said the same things and their insights apply to job seekers and career advancement.
1. My main methods for earning money were squashed
Given past conversations, most people would have thrown the towel in on #1 alone. But the main theme of these brave women is that they are seeking new ways to adapt their talents for producing income.
2. I made a big error but learned lessons from it
Again, many would grieve a long time over the error and bury their head in shame. I always refer to Thomas Edison’s quote, “I learned 10,000 ways that a lightbulb will not work.” The willingness to learn from our errors produces unprecedented success. We just have to stick wtih the incredible roller coaster ride.
3. New directions are developing for which I’m very excited
Taking the best of what they know and enjoy doing is being transformed into new pursuits. Although currently it seems as if they are derailed, each entrepreneur will be playing an even bigger game in the end.
