Does Mystery Surround You?

 

 

An email was received stating, “We did research on your site and interesting results were found.  This week we are offering a special…”  

What?  There was no indication of what type of results were found, let alone what they would do to improve the results.  Why would I be interested, and how could they possibly think this would have my undivided attention?

Upon deciding you are after someone’s attention and possible business, a concise message needs to be delivered as to why the other party should pay attention.  What is your service and what will be some of the rewards enjoyed by working with you?  A conversation then needs to take place finding the customer’s perspective first.  Questions need to be asked and understood long before an attempt to sell is ever made.

The above party simply jumped to the end of the conversation before working to earn my business.  Earning business are keywords to your sales success.  The same is true for interviewing and getting hired.  A process of learning why a job is available, what the company’s perspective for the position and career advancement may be along with corporate goals is required before you ask for the job to be yours.

Let the mystery fade away.  Be yourself and be open to become the chosen vendor or candidate.  This mode of operation will put you on the wave of the Smooth Sale!
