Pick Up the Phone!

Reluctance holds many back whether they are about to interview or in the process of building their clientele.  Motivation is required to pick up the phone.  Below you will find a few instances where doing so increased further possibility for business and helped “Suzy” out of an interviewing dilemma.

Being active on social media brings about many interesting connections and online conversations.  Upon seeing some synergy upfront, and taking the step to introduce yourself to one another including exchanging ideas, you will most often find new possibilities for furthering business.

After a long weekend, the first email that grabbed my attention was about publicizing my “new” books.  While I happen to be working on a new one, the two in print and selling well are not newly published.  The verbiage on the email was contradictory, so rather than go back and forth with email, I picked up the phone to clarify.  Glad I did because the books qualified for the publicity.

Lastly, “Suzy” was applying for a sales related job.  The hiring manager was to call at a specific time.  Three minutes past the hour but no call was received.  Unsure of what to do, Suzy picked up the phone to call the manager instead.  The manager answered.  He was both surprised and embarrased at the same time.  Using humor, Suzy replied, “I’m just demonstrating my prospecting skills”, at which point the manager laughed.  The two had a very good convesation and Suzy now has a date set for an in-person interview.
