Being mindful of trends does not translate into participating in all of them. Instead, it’s wise to consider all aspects of each trend that catches your attention to weigh the pros and cons of how each will fit into your current strategies for achieving goals. The crucial factor in decision-making is whether a new trend will complement what you have in place to make it more robust or conflict with current procedures. The underlying issue with trends is that many people will diminish your efforts if you don’t behave like everyone else; however, the decision is ours to choose the better path. Being mindful of trends will define our growth outcomes. One excellent goal is to ‘Capture Hearts and Minds’.

Fit In or Stand Out?

The first step before accepting any new thought is to critically analyze whether the idea complements what is already in place. The last thing anyone wants is conflict within their own system for handling business. Generally, those who adapt to new ideas, including technology, will inevitably stand out in the crowded playing field. For example, large companies such as Apple and Nvidia are models of innovation in software, technology, and the products they sell. On the other hand, companies that stand down to wait and comprehend possibilities often lose out on the momentum for growth.

Them vs. Us

Entrepreneurs face personal challenges such as ridicule for doing something ‘stupid’ upon announcing a novel idea and strategy. Dr. Ali Anani, Ph.D., in his article, ‘Going Against the Trend‘, writes, ‘To differentiate could be the way to rejuvenate.’ From experience, I surmise that it gets old and boring to copy and follow what everyone else does. The same people are in charge, boastful and unyielding, and typically allow their egos to take over while simultaneously putting down those who challenge ‘the usual’.

Ideals and Priorities First

While many people want to participate in a group to learn from one another and have support, it doesn’t always prove beneficial. Testing a group setting is wise before committing. Part of the test is to see whether group members can openly express ideas or ask open-ended questions without ridicule following.

Brand Identity

Each individual and business must establish a trustworthy brand identity for others to make inquiries and ultimately conduct business. For this reason alone, it is vital to establish one’s own rules and regulations, to always adhere to one’s brand, and never to compromise an activity. A positive mindset, aligned with our values and priorities, helps us stand out as a trusted brand. On a personal level, it takes gumption and much practice to ultimately reveal a unique individual experience that may put many into disbelief. But if we know it to be true and have the courage to share the story, it just may encourage our audience to proceed in their unique style without giving up in any way, shape, or form, including embracing hope.

Most of all, the better strategy is to believe in ourselves, knowing that we can succeed when we put an all-out, genuine effort into what we ‘wish’ to accomplish.
