Some people, including me, grow up in a demeaning environment only to experience the same in the corporate world. Questions arise such as: ‘Why?’ ‘What am I missing?’ ‘Am I wrong?’ These are examples we may ask ourselves to get back onto a path acceptable to others. However, it isn’t always possible to join the crowd, as a small minority thinks differently. Instead, the questions we must answer regarding our unique desires are, ‘What are you thinking?’ ‘How can you make a difference for the better?’ ‘What will be the ultimate lesson you learn?’
Ali Anani, Ph.D., shares helpful insights in his article, ‘Days Crushed Him. ‘ I immediately connected with his words. Early in my corporate sales career, I felt that management was doing their best to ‘crush me’. However, I chose to focus on my clientele to ultimately ‘crush the numbers’ month by month. I refused to let the animosity in the offices hold me back. Instead, it is best to turn words of another into questions to create a positive effect and continue. I purposefully begin each day with long-term goals in mind.
The last sentence of Anani’s article is worthy of serious consideration: ‘Put your words in the right order to live a meaningful life.’ Accordingly, our blog offers insights to ‘Define your meaning for life and enjoy growth.’

Perspectives Can Change
Dr. Anani writes, ‘Days are like waves crushing nearby rocks.’ For most people, the sentence may remind them of the negative experiences they have, leading to feelings of uselessness. However, I greatly enjoy hiking near water, watching streams flow, and the high waves crashing against the rocks, as I see it as the water’s creativity.
Herein lies the issue for many: we either ask ourselves, ‘Is my thinking stupid?’ and ‘Shall I give up?’ or ‘Is the unpopular idea my opportunity to stand out and create something unique?’ Can I turn the tidal wave against me to prove, ‘Yes, I can!?’
Current Experiences vs. End Goal
We must accept that not every day is stellar, and that occasionally a particular day may bring about the worst. The worst one can do is run from the circumstance(s), whereas the better approach is to dig in and learn from it at all levels, leaving no stone unturned. While some may openly ridicule us, we can take lessons from them.
My style is to quietly dig deep to realize what they may be missing regarding my thinking and endeavors. It may seem as if we are swimming upstream against the current, struggling to get to the end point. However, as we continue our course, often new ideas will arise for improving what is already in place. Once we figure out how to fix what went wrong, it can feel as if we are enjoying calm waters, floating on a raft to the far end.

‘Crushing It’- Determination plus believing in oneself can change our mindset from the feeling of others crushing our endeavors before we begin to accomplish more than we ever imagined we might do. But even better is to forego bragging about what we accomplish to change the scenario of ‘crushing it instead’. It’s best to share what we learn along the way with communities so they can succeed too. When we work together for the greater good, often unanticipated and remarkable possibilities arise, making us feel we are ‘crushing it’ in a positive way.
