Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

Do You Operate A Heart Centered Business?

Caring is a strength that develops a highly regarded personal brand and your desired clientele

My Story

“You operate a heart-centered business” was told to me eight years ago, upon meeting someone new. I stopped in my tracks to figure out what she was saying. My first instinct was to think this goes against staying competitive and outperforming others.

Fortunately, I quickly recognized the complement. More importantly it provided instant insight as to how my success was found through the years. More insights are provided below.  But the most important principle for me, is to always sell with integrity and put the client’s goals first.

Vertical Market:  A Heart Centered Business

Salespeople new to the profession will do well to initially concentrate on one industry. This allows you to become very familiar with industry problems and strengths. Their unique vocabulary becomes familiar enabling you to then communicate on their level. You become seen as a team player. At the same time, you better understand the variations in the clientele of each company.

All of this combined, gives you a competitive advantage in having an improved understanding of each company.  The same strategies apply to job seekers and how you communicate on interviews.

Goals: A Heart Centered Business

Initial conversations are to focus on the problems each company is facing. What you believe you “could” sell may have no bearing on what they need. So it’s best to apply what you have learned upfront to the company goals. Recognizing there may be an excellent fit, it’s wise to find the personal goals, too, of each person with whom you meet.  Determine whether you are a match and that you both operate a heart centered business.

Disclaimer

Your disclaimer will further indicate integrity. It should include examples of how you help the majority of your clientele. Then give a quick snapshot of how you helped one specific client. Should it be a client in their industry, keen interest will be shown.

After describing the help, follow up with the question of “Does this sound of interest?” And ask, “Why?”   Now you have a basis for an in-depth discussion.

Communicating by focusing on the client’s interest signals the type of customer service one may anticipate after the sale. The reason is most salespeople merely focus on the sale itself and not the customer or their wish list. This is the key differentiator for being at the top in your profession.

Once a client sees that your heart is in the right place, and that you truly care about their well-being, you are on your way to earning the sale. When working with clients it is always best to concentrate on growing a heart centered business.
