Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:

Do You Prioritize Tasks Versus Projects?

Some days require so much of us that the question becomes, do you prioritize tasks versus projects? A process that works well for your natural style is necessary to build a reputation of excellence and grow a loyal clientele.

As a sole business owner, the responsibility for growth is all on us unless we can hire help and partner with those whose expertise complements ours. Overseeing a team or company requires diligent planning to include the responsibilities and timelines of others for completing tasks. Our work is never entirely complete as new ideas continually arise to help move us forward potentially.

My Story

Before we can expect to develop client loyalty, we must build our commitment to our clientele. Their expectations are to be met to the best of our ability while working out the details to everyone’s satisfaction. If we decide that tasks required of us come first, our clientele will soon dwindle, making it necessary for us to close shop or find another job.

It is always best to keep our vision and long-term goals in mind to work on them daily. Client and employer demands may pull us away from attention to our ultimate goal. But we can minimize frustration by completing a small task associated with what is important to us individually. Eliminating as much stress as possible is essential for more adeptly moving forward. Being habitual helps us remain on track for what we want and avoid the regret of pushing it aside.

Being accommodating to others is necessary but is not to overtake what we can and cannot do within a time limit. We always need to consider the timeframe expectations and possibly negotiate the solution and completion date when necessary. The last thing is to jeopardize our job or business by appeasing another due to guilt or promises that may or may not be kept.

Sometimes we need to politely say, ‘no,’ with the reasoning behind our answer.  Next, it’s best to quickly follow up with what we can and cannot do so that others do not quickly dismiss us as they embrace a better understanding of how we work.

Before the start of each week, a review of what we need to complete by the next weekend and list it out keeps us on track. If on a job, a CRM database system is your best friend to avoid forgetfulness and missing opportunities. Aside from the bigger projects, annoying must-do tasks continue to appear. It’s best to keep a running list of those to efficiently mark them off upon completion and return to our motivating projects to accomplish.

Your Story: Do You Prioritize Tasks Versus Projects?

Many questions may come to mind on how to handle everything requiring completion. But there are only so many hours in the day; how will you complete them in a timely fashion and appear productive?

Matters to consider include:

  • A timeline with a specific deadline for each task to complete your main project is essential for completion.
  • Responsibilities to which you agreed and now have to see through to the end.
  • Mounting tasks that consume valuable time yet need completion.
  • As an entrepreneur, are you striving to work somewhat on your long-term vision daily?
  • If employed, will you satisfy your employer’s expectations of you on time?

Reputation is essential no matter the role we select. Accepting deadlines is equivalent to making a promise that we are to keep. Poor word of mouth from clientele can quickly put one out of business. With this in mind, it is necessary to be attentive and commit to daily goals and requirements.

Being vigilant toward keeping promises and attending to your goals and requirements will always work to your advantage. To embrace the edge, make it a habit always to prioritize tasks versus projects to bring your vision alive.

In Conclusion:

Sometimes we have to ask ourselves, if I quit today, what will I do, and will I be sorry for abandoning all I want to accomplish? Typically, no other plan is in place, and the answer is ‘yes’ regret may quickly set in. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize tasks versus projects to move forward toward the accomplishments we envision today.
