Life offers the unexpected, and how we handle it is what makes the difference for a good outcome. For example, some agonize over a seeming ‘catastrophe’ all the while beating themselves up for having it happen. Worse, they tell themselves, ‘it’s of no use, and I quit!’ But the ultimate issue with which to come to grips is that quitting solves nothing, whereas figuring out all the missteps can lead one to a better path forward. Experience reveals that handling life’s mysteries is the differentiator for growth, whether in health, friendship, business, or endeavors vital to you.

Our parents, grandparents, plus older peers and acquaintances often share their past experiences and how they were handled. While society and circumstances change, some things still apply. Rarely does a person live a perfect life; our gift is to ask how they handled similar incidents in the past to gain ideas for moving forward.

Speak with Younger Generations

Technology is rapidly changing before our eyes, creating potential cracks between generations in their pursuit of successful careers. More than ever, it is vital to learn the perspectives from those you trust and whose opinions you value for what is occurring and how best to adapt to the new. Moreover, it is critical to protect oneself from cybercrime on multiple levels, and, from my perspective, it is the people who grow up with the latest software who can benefit those older than themselves.

Connect with Those in Complementary Fields

Like collaborating with multiple people and companies we like, trust, and value to build a broader audience, the same is true for connecting with those in fields related to ours. Underlying this concept is the idea that we can more easily build a broader audience and develop a recognizable brand, thereby enhancing business growth.

Disconnects Occur

Occasionally, we may feel we are on an excellent track with another person, but they silently experience unforeseen incidents that limit their willingness to continue down the same path. It’s best to end the process politely and professionally so it can progress more easily with others.

Another type of disconnect may be losing business partners due to their loss of clientele in the background. For this reason alone, it’s wise to continue building a vast professional network to create new possibilities, as well as to search online for a community you can serve to their benefit. While serving communities in need may not generate income, it will create appreciation and potentially good word of mouth that may ultimately generate new business.

Change Mindset – Change Outcomes

It’s safe to say that many ask themselves, ‘Why me?’ when missteps occur. It’s a good question, and we shouldn’t waste time feeling sorry for ourselves. Instead, the question raises insights into what previously transpired, what went wrong, and how we may learn from the incident to again be on the path toward new heights.

Sometimes the seemingly worst will happen, leaving us to ask, ‘Why me?’  But when we take the time to uncover all the contributing factors, their combined meaning, and how they led to our outcome, it can appear miraculous.

For example, after 11 years of achieving top sales-producer status with zero appreciation in the corporate environment, I took one day off from work. Stopped at a red light, a car plowed at top speed into the rear end of the vehicle. Pain was mine for ten years until my miracle began to unfold. I was a passenger in a car on a rainy night that slid into a lamppost. The worst scenario became a miraculous outcome, changing my life for the better.
