Whether or not we are familiar with AI and Robotics at this point in time, we all know that it is changing the course of history, including how business is to be conducted. It’s a privilege to read and share the latest findings on technologies as they become available in posts I receive on LinkedIn from experts in the field. But that in no way qualifies me for being an expert; only someone with a desire to learn what I can. However, curiosity remains, and it’s intriguing to consider the varied ways AI will enable sales and business growth.

AI Sales Enablement
This week, I was approached by John Golden of SalesPop! who said he is conducting research on the combined effect of AI and sales, and asked for my input on an AI questionnaire. I let him know that I am not an expert on the topic, but I could answer the questions presented, and so I did. Next, he included the idea that I share the survey with any Sales Leaders or Consultants. My suggestion of sharing the survey with my readership was approved. Truthfully, I wasn’t certain the questionnaire was for me, but I took a quick glance and realized the questions weren’t as technical as I expected; instead, they prompted reflection on how our future may look and how AI will enable sales.
Old Steps vs. Next Steps
At an early stage of my sales career, Salesforce announced its CRM database to improve sales efficiency. The idea instantly caught my attention, and I implemented the software on my computer; I never looked back.

During my first sales job, I was the only woman on the team and was often berated. But I’m one who welcomes new ideas and quickly saw the benefits of entering data into the database vs. holding onto the business cards. On the other hand, the men chided me for wasting time entering all the information, even though the cards were available on the desks and required no extra effort. In fact, they created a contest between themselves, centered on who could build the highest pile of business cards, indicating that person would be more likely to reach the highest level of business and earn the monthly bonus.
But the real test soon arrived: Those who created the tallest pile of business cards were in for a shock! One evening, their piles fell onto the office floor, long after everyone had left. Next, the cleaning crew arrived in the early morning hours to witness the mess on the floor. What did they do? They swept it all up and threw the cards in the trash: I was the only one with all the contact information for the prospective clients, whereas they had none! You can imagine the month-end results throughout the remainder of the year.
Our Modern World
The past shows that we must stay up to date on new technologies and ideas for future business, and we must commit to learning, no matter where we are in our careers. Businesses that do not want to invest in training for themselves or their staff will ultimately suffer a greater financial loss than if they had made the investment upfront. Moreover, daily education, whether formal or self-taught, must be part of the regimen for business growth.
