Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  

Specifically Connect On Holidays and Grow Possibility

People love to be remembered, especially when it comes to holidays.  The kindness brings joy into their lives.  Spreading added joy to those you care about or who come to mind will strengthen your relationship, and potentially, build future possibility for business.

This idea stems from original sales advice received.  My first Sales Manager suggested that on every holiday, I gift every single gatekeeper with a miniature candy bar.  The investment was minimal, but the results were tremendous. 

With a big smile on my face, I would walk up to the guard, doorman, secretary etc. and wish each a happy holiday while handing them the candy.  This would quickly be followed with an innocent asking of, “I was wondering if you could help me?”  Sure enough, the help was 100%.  Honest!  The disclaimer is, today, there is maximum security at many office buildings.  However, if you still walk a territory and have business parks in your area, this is well worth a try.

Another great way to wish people a happy holiday is by sending animated wishes via online greeting cards.  The cost is again minimal for a year’s membership, while your audience gains tremendous appreciation for the nice greeting card.  The thought goes a long way to distinguishing yourself from everyone else, better known as your personal brand.  This also encourages your prospective clientele to seriously consider doing business with you. Similarly, if you are interviewing just prior to the holiday, wish those with whom you meet, a nice celebration.

Many varieties of warm wishes exist including personalized email, and connecting online.  One of the other better methods is to actually pick up the phone to say, “I was thinking of you” either in a live conversation or in a message, to be followed up with the holiday wish.

Mother’s Day is fast approaching.  Consider using this holiday as the opportunity to reconnect with those who have fallen out of touch.  They will be delighted to hear from you as well as receive your good wishes.

Underlying all of this is the fact that people buy from people they know, like and trust.  By showing you are thinking of the person, and that you care enough to take the time to wish them a good holiday will go miles in building a strong relationship and ultimately sales.

Take some quiet time between now and Sunday to make a list of all those who come to mind, such as friends, neighbors, clients and prospective clients, to efficiently reach out and connect.  You and they will be glad you did!
