Attract The Right Job Or Clientele:

Do You Believe the Great Resignation Will
Encourage Equal Pay?

An article by Inc., ‘Why 2022 Is The Year of Pay Transparency’ regarding salaries, was shared on LinkedIn to have me ponder, ‘Do you believe the great resignation will encourage equal pay? I was stopped in my tracks upon considering the written words. The concern is,

“Will the pay transparency intent ever jump from the written word into office reality?

On the one hand, I hope the idea becomes an everyday practice among all businesses. Yet, doubt lingers due to my previous and awful corporate experience. As a proven top sales producer, I was an embarrassment to the men and needed to find a job every year. Upon agreeing to a fourth new job, I was advised up front by a female counterpart to take 100% commission in the hopes of making a decent income.

My Story: Necessity for Equal Pay and Equal Treatment

My Reality:

The stress of needing to help pay for our children’s college education while hoping and praying that sales would go well at a new company was unimaginable. My clientele saved me as our conversations were highly enjoyable. Sales professionals know that empathy is essential for selling well.

After eleven years and eleven new jobs, the time came for me to consider becoming an entrepreneur once again. After my horrific corporate experience ended and becoming an entrepreneur, I was advised to write a book. The only stories that mattered to me were the ones that occurred in the corporate sales world of business. I constantly review the pros and cons of situations. The book, Nice Girls DO Get The Sale: Relationship Building That Gets Results, a corporate tell-all, was born. It reveals the horrific treatment behind the scenes plus captures the inspiring client conversations producing better sales outcomes. Names are changed to protect the guilty as I wrote a ‘corporate-tell-all.’

My  Purpose:

To help other readers experiencing discrimination in the workplace understand how to stand up to bullies, provide strategies for them to use both in the office and with clientele, and work with integrity all the while.

At the time, I had no idea that I was far ahead of the curve as a pioneer business woman. Incidents such as these are never ‘just about me.’ Women worldwide were and still are experiencing the same maltreatment. To my amazement, the book was quickly embraced by media to become an International Best-Seller and today is Evergreen, among the classics.

“The differentiator for achieving success is to share your worst to help lift others up the discouraging mountain of hardship so they may finally find their joy.

The years 2021-2022 will become known in the history books as the period of ‘The Great Resignation.’ It is of no surprise to me.  I’m crossing my fingers in hopes that business finally realizes that they should treat everyone on equal ground no matter their gender, race, or identity.

Upon attending a webinar, I had the privilege of hearing Timothy R. Clark speak on the topic of our needed transformation for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.  Even better her announced the title of his new book, ‘The 4 Stages of Psychological Safety’  He speaks about what is occurring today and the steps we may take to correct the wrongs.

As far as the prediction of legislation requiring the transparency of paid salaries, I will have to ‘see it to believe it.’  All of the above experiences contribute to why I choose to bring attention to Inclusion Allies Coalition  devoted to diversity and inclusion. Incorporating all of the above will serve to empower business growth and sales.
