Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  

Turn Off Or Encourage Returning Clientele

Have you ever experienced poor customer service?  How did it make you feel?  The experience becomes a great reminder of how we may perform better in all endeavors.

It was my turn today to experience the misfortune.  As a client I was appalled by the poor service.  In the future, I will drive further to experience better attention to clientele elsewhere. 

Purpose

Most likely you chose a career or business that utilizes your inherent talent and where you derive enjoyment.  The other important factor is you saw this path as a way to earn an income.  In either or both cases, you will want to continue but  can only do so if the clientele returns.

Focus

Clientele satisfaction is what drives business further.  Clients are presented with two choices; either to provide horrific commentary that will put you out of business.  Or, the improved scenario is, they may become your salesforce in disguise by becoming a returning and referring clientele.  For this reason alone, clients should be given the attention they deserve and made to feel welcomed.

Service

Should problems be brought to your attention, take care of them as quickly as possible and offer an apology.  The swifter your positive reaction, the more likely the client will remain loyal.

Follow-up on requests, and check in to be certain everything is flowing, as it should.  On occasion, and according to an agreed upon schedule, check in to see how the client is enjoying the service and inquire of any news they may have.  This is an opportunity, as well, for you to inform them of new services.

Appreciation

Thanking clientele for their business is essential for remaining in business.  You might ask for feedback for improvement or consider a loyalty reward program.  E-Cards, handwritten notes and occasional phone calls all go a long way for retaining your current clientele plus encourage introductions on your behalf.

Personal Brand

All of the above becomes a combined customer service, brand, branding, marketing, business development and service program in one.  As clients see your truly care about their welfare in addition to the money, good word of mouth will travel quickly about you and what you stand for.  Your personal brand sets you apart from everyone else.  And a well-developed brand turns into a branding/marketing program and long-term relationships that ultimately convert to more and larger sales.
