Standing tall has many meanings, but in business, it’s about standing out on a crowded playing field by attracting admiration. However, many people undermine their initial efforts to stand out the minute they receive recognition and admiration, as their ego takes over. It’s up to each of us to imagine ourselves standing tall among those we serve, both individuals and communities at large, but all the while remaining approachable and willing to listen to those we encounter.

This year proved highly rewarding, as I met people with similar ideals, values, and business goals. While most focus solely on their income, a select few seek to inspire and motivate others to do their best, offer a helping hand, and, most of all, share the experiences that shaped their outlook on life. It’s highly gratifying to meet those who stand tall today and will no doubt do so in the New Year.

Values, Priorities, and Actions

Standing tall means ensuring that all stated and committed values, priorities, and actions are in sync, without raising red flags or creating conflict. ‘Truth Be Told’ – the saying is known, but sadly is not unanimous among the crowded playing field. Well-known companies hide harmful ingredients in their products, sending customers to the hospital and worse.

Strive for the Greater Good and Stand Tall

When we strive to help others, are honest about what works and what does not, and offer encouragement to succeed in our own efforts, that is when the greater good illuminates ideas and the spirit of many; accordingly, we can stand tall. Being in the company of inspiring people stimulates the desire to reciprocate, and accordingly, we can attract more people to participate in our endeavors.

The sky knows no limits.

An excellent practice is to focus on our biggest upsets to uncover the lessons we may learn and how best to advance. Moreover, as comfort in sharing blossoms, we can assist many more people in doing the same. The win is no longer about the individual; again, we stand tall when we can effectively assist communities. The bonus is receiving and connecting with like-minded people, as well as remarkable, unexpected offers that will clear the path to achieving more than we initially thought possible. The Goodwill becomes a 360-degree circle, if you will, and the bonus is in the satisfaction we feel knowing that we are doing our best for ourselves and for communities at large. Despite the setbacks we initially face, we smile, realizing the triumph of appearing small, then standing up to assert ourselves and stand tall.

It’s wise to take quiet time regularly to examine all the commentary we hear, helping us dig deep and uncover elements that may be missing from our process. Accordingly, there is ‘good’ even among rude remarks. This weekend is an excellent time to re-examine what works well, what we might need to learn, and what we want to learn, and then create a strategy for what we find most meaningful for advancement; the effort will prove beneficial as we stand tall in the New Year.
