Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:

Do You Build Superior Customer Performance?

NOTE:  Jennifer Gertenbach, MA, SPHR provides today’s guest blog.  Jennifer is a Global Senior Vice President Human Resources

Jennifer writes:  Upon entering a meeting in the conference room of BackOffice, their signage grabbed my attention. I first asked for permission to snap a photo. I later asked if they would like to submit a blog about how their motto, “”We Guarantee Superior Customer Performance…” came to be.

The BackOffice Story

The mission at BackOffice Associates is to help customers manage and maximize their usage of data in their daily business processes, because data after all, is one of their most critical assets.  Working with Fortune 1000 companies such as Eli Lilly, Kraft and Graybar, BackOffice’s customers range far and wide, but one thing is for certain, customers are at the forefront of the company’s progression.

With this focus, it is only appropriate that BackOffice instill a strategic message for the company that would resonate from their highly recognized services to their award-winning products, and drive the overall success of the company.

A message that can be seen across their offices and on every aspect of BackOffice’s digital presence is their mission that states, “We Guarantee Superior Customer Performance by Unlocking the Power of Data”:

Elements of the Mission

Simple, yet focused, BackOffice’s mission was derived from a combination of many elements that included everything from the company’s history to their future roadmap. In all, it was ensured that employees would have full say in how the mission was developed with guidance from the BackOffice executive team. Enabling superior customer performance creates a long-term win from the client perspective and that of the employees.

Questions Answered

Several questions had to be considered before developing the final mission. This included:

  • Where was the organization going?
  • How do we move everyone in the same direction?
  • How do we reflect our core values?
  • What will our customers think of our message?
  • Will this message sustain the test of time?

Clients First:  Build Superior Customer Performance

In the past, BackOffice has always prided themselves on its long-term success with existing customers, so it was a simple decision to ensure customers were a main focus within the mission. The mission speaks to the direction that the company is going in and when it comes down to it, it all falls upon the proven success over the 20+ years of data quality solutions and services. Clients appreciate the superior customer performance.

Executive Action:  Focus On Building Superior Customer Performance

In order to gather input and transparency on the proposed mission, the executive team developed several initial drafts, held multiple town-hall meetings with leadership and featured several webinars and companywide communications to all employees to gather their input. Soon enough, the entire company from product development to sales and marketing, universally adopted the new mission.

When developing a mission statement is of the utmost importance to get the approval of all employees, because once everyone is in agreement, only then can you move forward as an organization in the right direction.

May the insights above help you to also build superior customer performance!
