Are you looking Everywhere for prospects?
Admittedly, I encountered prospects in the most unusual place this morning, and at the same time, it was disarming. Upon pulling out of a market parking lot, I noticed two people sitting on the sidewalk with signs asking for money. They were not your typical-looking street people, yet they appeared very sad.
I pulled my car over to the side to stop and speak with these two people for the first time. But first, I pulled flyers out of the trunk. I then approached the couple to give them the flyers. I explained associates and I are putting on a Career & Biz Fair on March 14 in Petaluma. It was further explained that attendance is free for those in transition. We arranged to have hiring companies, business resources, and community leaders on hand to help the people who attend.
The woman looked up and smiled, and then she said,
“I’m a bookkeeper by trade, and I cannot get a job. We are forced to sleep in a shelter. Thank you so much!”
Her words were heart-wrenching and heartwarming, knowing that some good will come out of our hard work put into this community project. These are challenging times, and more open awareness of others needs to prioritize.
Out of helping others, you will find business development begin to take hold, more prospects will find you, and over time you will close more sales by building the relationships in the earliest stages. When these prospects are ready, it will be a very Smooth Sale!
