Attract The Right Job Or Clientele:
Business is already complex but can become highly challenging without using these communication strategies outlined below.
My Story
As our new year will soon arrive, today’s Blog question, ‘Are You Goal-Driven?’ includes a systematic approach for setting and achieving year-long goals. Being goal-driven is essential for achieving what we want in life, including business and career.
I began setting goals for myself primarily due to the bullying around me at an early age. Reminding myself daily of what I wanted to achieve no matter the circumstances made me determined to continue moving forward. Every day I would remind myself what I was to accomplish that day and week. You can tell that I groomed myself at an early age to excel in the sales profession – unknowingly.
After a good run in the sales arena, I became an entrepreneur dedicated to helping others grow sales and interview well for jobs. I knew many business people in town and did well with training upon my initial attempt. But not too long after, we moved, and my thought was, ‘what have we done?’ Entrepreneurship seemed easy upfront, and I didn’t quite understand all the muttering behind the scenes until the move.
At one event, the meanness reached a new level. Nastiness prevailed on many levels, and it was a tough ‘go’ to continue the effort. Thankfully, one friendly person took me aside to advise me to write a book to establish credibility. I heeded her advice with nothing to lose and everything to gain, although it was never my intent. Goal setting and reflection became my saving disciplines.
Upon returning to the same group nine months later, people were aghast for two reasons:
a. I had the nerve to show up! They couldn’t believe I created an entire product line plus achieved an international best-selling book to my name in a relatively short period?
b. The uniform commentary with alarm in the tone of voice was: ‘How are you moving forward at Lightning Speed?’
‘Incredulous tones of voices give a clue for what to do next!
It was time for my follow-up product! Nine months seemed like a very long time to me, but everyone else indicated it would take them years to do all I could achieve. So I reflected on my sales success, what I learned about goal-setting, and how I could assist others in achieving more in a shorter time and created the Laser-Goal setting system.
Goal setting applies to all aspects of life; little success arrives without paying attention to achieving what we want. Sometimes we are to brace ourselves for doing the grudge work to update systems and projects whether we like it or not. Keeping the end goal in mind is again the differentiator for those who do well.
The willingness to put in the extra work helps build our personal brand, put an admirable branding program in place, and attract collaborative efforts for a wider market reach. Upon having everything in place, we are better to attract a broader audience, plus grow business and sales.
Being in business, we need to focus on what we desire. It’s best to be collaborative, however, not to the point where we put the priorities of another ahead of our own. My advice is to reflect each evening on what we did well and what needs improvement, and then prioritize goals for the next day. Each morning, review the goals before beginning work to remain organized and productive throughout the day.

Your Story: Are You Goal Driven?
There is no doubt that you have also heard commentary that you preferred not to listen to this past year. From a different vantage point, recall those remarks with a smile on your face. Although it may sound highly unusual, often there are gold nuggets when we are willing to mine for them. Think of it as your personal ‘bitcoin’ – your bit of gold that will make a difference.
A personal example here:
On a Saturday evening, I heard, in a mean tone of voice, ‘if your book were any good, a publisher would have picked it up!’ On Monday, the book was well on its way!
Now, think about the nasty phrase, ‘Oh yeah, what are you going to do about it?’ Begin making your list of everything you will do and the timeline for accomplishment. Remind yourself daily of what you will do and will accomplish. Do you feel your energy increase? It’s a good indication that you are excited about what will transpire and are now on a better track to move forward.
As you give yourself a pep talk every morning, each day, be cognizant of who provides genuine support and those who wish you would quit. Quietly and at your pace, switch over to those peers who not only support you but who are willing to offer original ideas for you to succeed. It makes all the difference having a peer support group or a group of individuals on whom you can count.
In alignment with achieving your goals, prioritize your necessary business expenses, investments for growth, and hiring help as you need. Doing all of the above allows you to find success on your terms and continue for the long term.
