Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:
Do You Realize Life Can Teach Us Sales Strategies?
The life of a new salesperson is rough and challenging, and disappointment quickly strikes with more bad news to follow. Why would anyone choose the profession? Sadly, it is the only option for some because many professional jobs are more discriminatory than the open-door policy one would expect.
But the sales profession isn’t a cure-all. To acquire a sales job and do well, one must be clever in job interviews by seeing through the questions, producing laughter, and needing to toughen up for the sales arena. And all the while, it’s necessary to boomerang back to a soft and gentle approach when out and about with prospective clients.
In short, one often needs to be tough inside corporate to stand up for what’s fair (like standing up to bullies) yet gently approach the prospective clientele. Realizing who is accepting of individuals and who is not is an ongoing experience that can teach us sales strategies, no matter where we are.
My Story
It is an honor to be a guest on the Influencers Podcast hosted by Dr. Bill Williams. Most noticeable upfront is the technology he utilizes to inform viewers who the guest is and the questions in discussion at each moment. And for me, it was a treat to have the name of my book readily visible throughout the podcast.
We are both admirers of Dale Carnegie’s stellar advice to share stories. Accordingly, the questions asked of me triggered laughable stories and insightful experiences that paved the way to achievements given the previous unacceptable events.
Revamp Your Sales Game: The Better Sales Strategy
Authenticity is a requirement for building trust and the desire to do business with each of us. At stake is establishing a proper connection with the individuals we meet. It is never about memorization of specific keywords or arm-twisting to convince people to purchase. Instead, building the relationship is first by finding commonalities or at least enjoyment upon hearing the experiences of one another.
Once the connection takes hold, all parties tend to relax, enjoy learning more about one another, and then confide about professional and personal desires. Treating a prospective client like a human being and potential friend is one of the leading sales strategies. More unusual is to ask if an introduction will be interesting upon hearing a specific remark that brings it to mind.
Use Intuition to Move the Process Forward
As conversations relax, intuition may kick in, and it is vital to pay attention to it. But refrain from making a bold statement.
Instead, ask questions with an inquiring tone of voice.
The profession is highly challenging on multiple levels, so salespeople must find the elements they most enjoy when speaking with their prospective clientele. Simultaneously, enjoyment signals that the buying process does not need to be painful but that an enjoyable partner may be nearby to help.
And like establishing friendships and networks, it’s best only to attempt to do business with the people you enjoy. As the relationship develops, it almost feels as if you have a new friend motivating you to continue the conversations moving forward.
Humorous Story Example
As the relationship develops, it almost feels as if you have a new friend motivating you to continue the conversations moving forward. For example, one client and I came to know one another well. She visited our office and mentioned the shoe store we admired across the street. It was having a big sale, and we went in together.
Coincidentally, my manager was staring out the window to see us deviate from work together. A unique bond was developing. When I returned to the office, he was utterly bewildered, and his approach to the issue was to go home early!
Your Story: Sales Can Teach Us Life Strategies
Do you merely concentrate on the rhetoric to make a sale, or do you attempt to create a bond with the person in front of you? Humanizing the process is the differentiator between average results and the top producers of a sales team.
Review some of your more notable sales experiences to realize the lessons. Some can influence future personal dealings more softly than filling up with anger.
The secret is how we handle unique circumstances, whether good, bad, or ugly. Our demeanor is like a megaphone announcing who we are and signals to others whether they are to do business with us.
In Conclusion: Sales Can Teach Us Life Strategies
Upon routinely comparing and contrasting life issues with sales experiences, strive to detect a pattern for a strategic approach. Realize what is working best and promise yourself to apply it to all areas of your life. Paying attention to all occurrences and sifting through the lessons should lead to happier outcomes.
