Gaining Perspective
We all have our own opinions that we hold dear. However, it is unlikely that every single one of them is the best. Remaining true to only what we personally know does not always prove to be the best road.
Career and clientele may be greatly enhanced by possessing a willingness to gain knowledge from the perspective of others. Once you understand the reasoning behind their opinions then you are able to decide whether their thought on the subject is an improved one over your own. Over time, you will develop a more rounded pool of information and quite possibly change many of your own opinions.
A great way to gain insight on an interview or in a client meeting is to ask, “What has been your experience?” or “Why do you believe that?” Everyone loves to expound upon their own opinion and will be glad you asked. It may also bring you closer to hearing “HIRED!” or “SOLD!”
