Attract the Right Job Or Clientele:
Are You Ready to Try Something New?
We continue our careers and endeavors with the long term in mind until the realization hits that it may be time to try something new. Quitting does not need to enter the picture; enhancing what we do may make the difference we seek.
My Story
Before becoming an entrepreneur, I attended a couple of conferences to hear advice from the speakers. Uniformly, they indicated that passion is to be evident in the work we do. Of course, I stopped in my tracks to wonder, how can I be passionate about a sales job when management belittles every effort I make?
It was easy upfront to disregard the advice to seek our passion. But the suggestion continued to play in my mind for some strange reason. Reflecting on my eleven jobs over eleven years, I smiled, recalling my fun conversations with my clientele. My favorite part was in treating many to lunch to get to know them better.
Benefits of Reflection
Reflecting on the past gave way to rewriting my plan for the future. Instead of vying for a 12th job, there was no doubt that I was ready to try something new, as in entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is similar to a job and other endeavors. We hit plateaus facing the need to try something new. But when we are happy, generally speaking, with our career, we need to plan out our next steps and reach our next plateau. The climb up the mountain of uncertainty can be exhilarating, frightening, and yet monumental when we achieve that portion of our journey.
When we attempt to play it safe, little accomplishment is ever ours. However, testing the waters to see how far we can go that’s the game-changer strategy for career and life. The only downside is that we rarely do something new that works to perfection upon our first attempt. Disappointment, aggravation, and concern about whether the effort is worthwhile may take hold.
My strategy is unusual for handling fruitless efforts. First, I break down everything that failed to work as it should. I use the lowest point imaginable as my motivator to continue until I succeed. Realizing the futile effort and potentially more disasters ahead, I ask myself, is it time to quit? The moment when ending the struggle comes to mind, I then revamp the plan and try again. How is this possible?
- There is nothing else I would rather be doing.
- Advancing to a better moment in time will bring me enjoyment.
- I can share the lessons from the worst experiences with communities to help them succeed. Helping others to advance becomes inspiring for many, myself included.

Why Bother Any Longer?
Often push-back against our efforts occurs due to being ahead of the curve. People don’t understand us. It becomes essential to have faith In oneself and enjoy our place in time. Eventually, we find collaborative others who volunteer to promote one another. The increase in visibility provides us with new opportunities we never saw coming. In short, the disappointments are nothing compared to the surprises remaining ahead of us!
Your Story: Are You Ready to Try Something New?
No perfect answer exists for business. Everyone faces twists and turns. Those who are adept and willing to learn from the experiences will move forward and succeed. Doubt is one of the biggest culprits, and self-doubt is the worst. The moment we begin to question ourselves is the exact time to start repeating, ‘I can do this!’ And once you believe you can do it, repeat, ‘I will do it!’ until you are in motion to set a plan in place.
Consider Yourself As Your Best Client:
- Realize the pros and cons of working with you.
- Strive to appreciate the value you provide.
- Tell others about your work and how it makes a difference.
Be faithful to your cause with a goal-setting plan in place and the dedication to learning how to do more efficiently. People who notice your commitment share your work with their networks to become your way forward. As busy as you may feel, accept the better opportunities for collaborative opportunities, interviews, and showcasing your work. In due time. You will be well on your way to growing a thriving business.
In Conclusion: Are You Ready to Try Something New?
The realization often hits that the time is now! Self-doubt is the instigator that can push us to higher levels than we thought possible. By examining the pros and cons of continuing, we uncover the hidden steps we knew were in front of us but were afraid to try.
