Remembering old acquaintances produces results

Building relationships applies to all areas of our lives, personal, business and the job hunt. All three and over time, will interweave into the results you are seeking.  Two excellent examples came about just yesterday and are shared below.  But first is a video sharing insight on how to sell while building the relationship.

Per the job inquiry, a family member asked if we still knew anyone employed at a particular company because the desire is to interview there.  Having the inside connection and a strong recommendation usually produces improved odds for securing the job.  

Rather than providing the names cold, conversations with a past peer to ask permission to make the introduction will be done upfront.  Proceeding this way further builds all relationships. The best outcome would be for the current employee to take ownership of introducing the applicant to the employer.  Many companies offer referral fees for introduction of new hires so everyone involved has an opportunity to win.

The second story is that while I was exiting a concert, an old networking friend ran over to say hello, and give me a big hug.  It had been about 5 years since we last saw one another.  Yesterday, we connected online to update one another.  I mentioned the plan for moving.  It turned out the area where we will be exploring to live, is the exact area where she lived for ten years.  Wonderful recommendations came my way for cities to consider.

By occasionally checking in with people from your past, you find not only wonderful conversation but also excellent possibility of new ideas and opportunities coming your way.  Old acquaintances are far more likely to produce the results you are seeking, and the Smooth Sale
