Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  Before you take action take these 3 steps

We invariably and continually make changes in our lives.  Some people seek new jobs, even careers, while others are searching for investments or new clients.

The topics are endless, however, the approach for each holds many steps in common.  Eliminating one step will damage results, so be certain to read through and write me if you have questions.

Research

No matter which topic you are about to tackle, without some research, it is far more likely poor results will be found.  Do you really want to waste time attempting to sell to people who won’t purchase your service, or buy property where lawsuits are going on behind the scene?  The answer is, “probably not”.

Begin with a Google search on the company, the property or the people in question.  Click on the multiple links that appear.  Read what other people have to say.  Understand, there is usually at least one disgruntled person, so make certain negative comments aren’t the standard.  On the other hand, positive comments are very encouraging.  You might also learn of related endeavors in which they are partaking that will provide insight and lead to a more in-depth conversation for when you do meet.

The Dots

Of everything you read, how does the information relate to what you are trying to attempt?  Did you gain special insight that will provoke a more in-depth conversation?

A significant outcome for research is to be able to see the best match between you and the other party, in order to connect the dots for them.  Turn your experience into a brief story that incorporates the essence of what was found that you both have in common.

Now that you have a broader understanding of the other party, you are better situated to have an improved conversation.  Listening first and speaking second are key, particularly if you are trying to get your point across or make a sale.  This is a carry over for connect the dots.

When it is your turn to share your experience and insights, immediately refer to the research you did and the nice surprise you found regarding the areas you do have in common.  This will develop a free flowing conversation, and one that normally allows for strengthening the relationship, credibility and trust.
