Do You Use The Better Sales Strategy?
Most sales professionals typically view being at the top of the sales scoreboard as a triumphant achievement, but frequently it does not entail the better sales strategy. The usual theme is egotistical salespeople attempting to prove that they can do better than the other team members, along with hearty laughter. We can easily surmise that this does not work well for building relationships, teamwork, or collaboratively developing business growth.
However, examining an outcome from multiple perspectives can put a new lens on what we see. We can move from the feeling of superiority via the last laugh that puts another down to move toward sharing the last laugh with our clientele.
Laughter is known as the best medicine, and it is also the better sales strategy.
As we mature, our lives fill with competitiveness on many levels. Sports, school grades, and the errors we see others make all add to our desire to be the best. However, successful business practices teach the combined effect. While some may want to be seen as the best in their job, being willing to recognize that it’s impossible to excel in everything, it is best to accept the help of others, including our clientele. Embracing the collaborative approach is a differentiator for those who experience success in their endeavors.
The lack of sales training coupled with the fear of needing to sell equipment with which I had no familiarity led me to a public speaking class. The class was my game-changer for overcoming the anxiety over meeting unfamiliar people in careers far more advanced than mine. I initially enjoyed the last laugh on a couple of levels in the corporate world.
Share Laughter and Enjoy The Last Laugh Together
One essential piece of advice in the class was to share stories and laughter whenever possible. Growing up, I always enjoyed making people laugh as it is a ‘feel good’ moment in time. The enjoyment never left, so I attempted the same with prospective clientele. Most never saw the surprise moment coming their way. Unexpectedly, I had them doubling over with laughter. Instead of focusing on the sale as most representatives do, the better sales strategy is to ease the tense atmosphere by helping release tension with laughter.
By the end of conversations, people always thanked me for my relaxed business style. The last laugh was recalling our memorable moment in time together. Most often, the laughter earned the willingness to move forward with business. Additional meetings always included humor that contributed to clientele loyalty.
Similarly, I connect with people online who have exciting careers and entrepreneurships, and I reach out to learn more.
