Attract the Right Job or Clientele:  When You Meet Fear Head On Do These Three Things

We almost always have a choice in our livelihood. That is to do the same old, day after day, or take a risk to do something new.

As an employee, taking risk could mean asking for a promotion and rising to the occasion to get up to speed or, quitting to try a new company. Risk increases when we decide to leave the current industry for another.  As an entrepreneur, it sometimes becomes necessary to reinvent what is in place to seemingly start anew.

In truth, the risk is never as great as our imagination makes it out to be. This is because you take the learned knowledge with you. A starting point is already in place.  You only need to move upward as far as you are willing to learn and grow.

Opportunity is one occurrence while growth and reward continue to blossom ~ say Yes!

My Story

Risk taking is in my DNA but for most it is not. My risk taking became refined with a plan of action behind it. I learned to say, “Yes!” to opportunity that sounded exciting yet scary. The scary piece is when the offer sounds amazing but well beyond my capability. My plan of action is to accept immediately and then get the help I need.

Attitude helps tremendously in these types of situations. Not everything works out to perfection. In fact, sometimes the opportunity sours quickly. However, by realizing lessons learned, something is to be gained. My outlook became, “I tried and failed, I learned, and I will try again.” This type of thinking is what propels growth and future success.

Your Story

In your career, have you turned down opportunities that you wonder about today whether it was a mistake? Have you been offered partnerships whereby you believed you weren’t ready yet and declined them only to feel remorse?

Three Actions to Embrace:

  1. Listen

Maintain your composure while you nonchalantly ask the other person to describe what they have in mind. Determine whether the project will launch your career or business. You should ask why you were chosen. This provides insight as to what others see in you. Ask all of the questions that come to mind including the anticipated outcome of joining forces, in order for you to make a sound decision. Most of all, determine if the offer meets with your values and priorities.

  1. Say Yes!

From now on, the moment you hear an offer that has you thinking, “Wow, me, unbelievable!”, say, “Yes, count me in!” At your first opportunity, seek out the help you need in order to be prepared to deliver excellent results.

  1. Learn

The initial months may be tough with the need to learn as well as work with new people. Be willing to learn as much as you can from both negative and positive experiences. Either outcome will expand your knowledge and scope for the future. This practice, over time, is what paves the road to success.

As you look back, you will recognize that all of the learning and experiences combined will have erased the fear!

Sales Tips:

  1. Look fear in the eye
  2. Say yes to incredible opportunity
  3. Rise to new occasions
  4. Study and implement as much as possible
  5. Continually review what is working best
  6. Get help as you need it
  7. Network with people of a seemingly higher capacity
  8. Learn from every experience and every person you meet
  9. Deliver your best
  10. Celebrate how far you have come
