Attract the Right Job or Clientele:

One Personality Trait Contributes to Business Success

Today, as I was cleaning up my database by going through older email, it struck me that one personality trait contributes to business success. To verify whether the people were still in business, I clicked on the website links sent. Many were no longer in business. And I began to wonder what the common thread might have been.

Later, an article an article appearing in the Washington Post caught my attention. It ended with a stunning conclusion. The focus was on a study of those undergoing a facelift and what it did for their self-confidence.

After the work was complete, the statistics revealed:

  • Self-esteem generally improved among those who had low self-esteem before the facelift
  • Self-esteem remained almost unchanged among those with average self-esteem prior to surgery
  • Self-esteem dropped among people who had high self-esteem before the surgery

Apply the One Personality Trait to Business and Career

The statistics stated may likewise be applied to business. It is far more likely that those who hold some self-confidence will remain in business longer or will be more inclined to have a thriving career  than those who do not.  And those with greater self-confidence are most likely to succeed.

Cope with Negativity

The reason this topic is so near and dear to me is that I, too, had to struggle with many negative comments throughout my entrepreneurship. Although I was a top producer in the corporate sales environment, people still believed I didn’t know enough to write books or teach classes. We each have a very strong need to win this struggle in order to succeed.

Look Within to Discover Your One Personality Trait for Success

On your worst days, remind yourself of everything you have achieved up until that point. Examine why and how your achievements were made. Do you have favorite stories connected with some of your advances? Start listing these, and share them as appropriate with friends and peers.

By changing your focus on what you are able to do instead of what others may direct criticism toward, you will begin to embrace a completely different outlook. This will also be the motivating force to continue.

Milestones

As you feel the stress-related negativity fading away, begin charting a new course with specific direction of where you wish to be headed. The next step is to list milestones to be achieved. Keep track of which venues are working well and do your best to expand those more fully.

Higher Self-Esteem

Now that you have created and achieved a number of milestones, there is no doubt that you have elevated your feeling of self-esteem by way of increased confidence, the major contributor to your  one personality trait that many admire.
