Attract the Right Job or Clientele:
Will You Start Over and Find the Joy?
Today was “the day” for a number of my peers as they recognize the need to start over and find the joy. Long ago, we each met at a networking event and have remained in touch. We have each had highs and lows throughout the years, but my two counterparts experienced particularly low-lows.
However, the excitement in their voices had me recognize today is their new day, and incredible possibilities are just ahead. Are the transformations easy? Anything but easy describes what transpired.
There were rules to the game that had to be followed
Let the pain subside
As deep disappointment strikes, it’s important to deal with it. As the days pass, figure out how the black hole came to be and what might have been done differently. Once the realization hits, create a new plan to start over and find the joy.
Lessons learned
What are your takeaway lessons from the event causing such pain? In the future, what may be done differently to avoid something similar? Are processes in place to travel down a new path?
One conversation centered on a completely changed diet. “Cheryl’s” previously poor diet unfortunately led to cancer. She is now in recovery mode and told me she is the new proud owner of a juicer. We exchanged notes regarding the ingredients we use and laughed about our feeling of increased energy due to a healthier diet.
Outcome
A common theme from many experiencing deep disappointment is that by the time they recover, they are almost grateful for the experience. Honest. The lessons that are learned, the light seen, heading toward an improved path all contribute to a more secure feeling and improved lifestyle. This of course leads to a happier life journey.
Career transition
Two people who originally asked to be coached on sales skills had to modify their requests. While in conversation, they were each notified by different employers that their positions had been eliminated. Poof, no job!
“Shirley” admitted she disliked the job anyway, and now the motivation is present to find a new one. It’s the optimism that will help her to interview well and find one more quickly.
Improve Tomorrow and Find the Joy
My friends spoke with great enthusiasm in their voices. They are on to new paths in their business and careers. The one thing they have in common with one another, salespeople and successful entrepreneurs, is that they are holding the grand vision for what tomorrow may bring. New projects are in the works, possibilities are expanding and they each possess the voice of being unstoppable.
