Use Sales Strategy for Holiday Preparedness

As I was getting my pile of “to-do’s” together today, and needing to adjust some items, I was thinking of the phrase, “making my list and checking it twice”.  And then I realized that preparing for holidays requires some sales strategy in order to complete everything on time.  Similarly, party strategies should be incorporated into your business or job hunt. Watch the video:

Making the list

It seems whenever I finish an intense session on the computer and walk away afterward, is when the better ideas or ah-ha moments come to me.  Should this be your scenario, be of the mindset to capture your thoughts wherever you may be, otherwise, they may be lost forever.

Revisions

Contact information may have changed during the year, so double-check to be certain everything is current.  Capture that information, too.  As you complete your tasks, cross them off the list, but continue to add new tasks as the ideas come to you. This comes from years of experience setting goals and maintaining associated running task lists in order to be certain everything is achieved on time.

Errands and deliveries

No doubt you have extra errands to take care of and perhaps deliveries to make, too.  Top performing salespeople know to create a time-efficient route so as not to waste time driving back and forth.  You could potentially save hours per week by managing your time well in this one area.

Holiday gatherings

If you are slated to bring a dish or are making a special holiday meal, use the same task list strategy for grocery shopping.  Unless you have an incredible memory, chances are you might forget an item essential for your recipe.  Given the crowds during the holiday season, having to return to the store would be a huge waste of time.  Write everything down you will need to purchase as you think of it.  There will be no forgetting and it will add tremendously to time efficiency.

Celebrate

You did it all – errands, shopping, cooking, and deliveries – it’s time to celebrate!  This is another strategy that keeps salespeople motivated to continue with the high energetic speed on a daily basis.

Assuming you are fully committed to doing your best, then you should be proud of what you have accomplished.  Once the craziness is over, pause to reflect on what you achieved, why it happened, what worked so well, and how you may leverage all of that into an even better year ahead.

Celebrate all that you have learned, achieved, and in particular, that which made you most proud!
