Do you consider the professional approach at all times?
From time to time difficult circumstances come about. We agree to doing something but the anticipated structure, requirements and/or outcome are completely different than what is originally stated. I have observed others throughout the years learning from how they handle these sticky arrangements.
Most often people are on the lookout for their own gain. When they see no gain coming from a venture that took a turn for the worse, they bail. From a bottom line aspect it is understandable and I know my accountant would be appreciative if I took that approach. But in my mind, there are other factors to consider.
Although the other party fell down on their word, what about yours? How will it look to others outside the inside circle if the announcement were made that you are no longer able to appear? On another side of the conflict, are you able and willing to find justification for showing up, remaining true to your word? What will the benefits be to you and everyone else involved?
Whenever you move forward with another organization, it’s important to get a well rounded view of the situation rather than just to get angry and stomp off. Working to the benefit of everyone may not initially pay off in currency but over time will pay off in a much larger way. You will also become wiser and know what to look for upfront the next time you are asked to join forces.
In order to build your clientele and sales, your mindset must be focused on always building relationships in the most positive manner possible. Your marketing communication message is that you deliver fully on expectations plus some. Your demeanor and behavior will attract more prospects and clients putting you in the expert and leadership position.
Likewise, when interviews seemingly take a turn for the worse or you are asked to put extra time in to meet the team or take a test – look at the bright side that they are interested in you and want to find the best fit for the company. By cheerfully taking the time and the test and/or meeting the team, you have an added chance of making another great impression and hearing the word HIRED!
Smiling and using the friendship approach for making a sale or getting a job will have you soon enjoying a very Smooth Sale!
