Are you examining the promises you make?

This question came to mind because someone asked me if I would guarantee he would complete his manuscript after taking my “How to write an e-book and sell copies” webinar series. Take a moment to consider how you would have answered.

In all situations you have to remember your integrity is a large part of your brand. How you communicate, maintain the relationship with the person whether you agree or not, and demonstrate your expertise will determine your conversion of prospects to clients and the success of your business.

An importnat piece for answering correctly is also knowing your rules for business. My goal is to earn repeat business, referrals and testimonials so I am 100% truthful.

In this instance, I answered: I am able to share everything I know on how to quickly and effectively write the book and attract attention to it to get copies sold. However, completing the manuscript will strictly be up to you.” I concluded by asking if he understood why I answered in this manner and would he still like to move forward.

Answering honestly does not have to mean losing the business. In fact, this usually serves to advance the sale because others want to know upfront they can trust you. The gentleman agreed to the course. And most likely my methodology for business will become a marketing message as he passes good word of mouth on to his friends. This is business development at its best and once again makes for a very Smooth Sale!
