Intuition Gives Rise to Relationships and Sales

Years ago, a telephone company created a very smart advertising campaign headlined by, “Reach Out and Touch Someone”.

That phrase still holds much merit today. So many times, the names of people will come to us causing wonder as to what they are doing in the moment. This is the best time to reach out and touch that person with the goodwill gesture and communication that you are thinking about them.

Just today, a familiar name from the past picked up the phone to call me. Most likely five or six years have passed since we last connected, but upon talking with one another it seemed as if were only yesterday. As it turned out, she thought of me because someone she just met could use my insight on a couple of topics.

Make Their Day

The person you contact will be flattered you thought of them. It’s not often people go out of their way to reconnect with others, so when you do, it will be a very positive mark in your favor and go a long way in further building the relationship between you. Accordingly, you will be greeted with an enthusiastic conversation.   Most people will thank you whole-heartedly for taking the time to reconnect with them. It is the first step that gives rise to relationships and sales.

 

Habit

Make it a habit to contact people as they come to mind. Not only will you make someone else’s day with your thoughtfulness, the connection will also become a two-way road for business development. As you become comfortable doing this, begin asking questions to find if help is needed in promoting an event or project or if particular introductions will be helpful. Doing so provides you the opportunity to in turn reveal where your focus currently is and the help you might need.

Benefits

The benefits of reconnecting are enormous. Your newest project may be of great interest to the person you call. From the conversation you may potentially find areas in which to partner or make quality introductions.

A side benefit but equally important may be new introductions for you along with word of mouth referrals.
