Mental Preparation

Are you mentally prepared prior to every interaction when it comes to potential business?  Do you feel energized or excited in regard to making the connection?  Are you familiar with the other party, their business and do you know what you are wanting to communicate?

Sometimes we get lucky when we “wing it” but most often this approach does not work well at all.  When you are trying to earn someone’s business, the work behind the scenes needs to be evident.  At a networking event, it would be difficult to do research, but be prepared to learn about others to determine who might make your next best connection.

Prior to selecting those you approach for an interview or as a prospective client, do research upfront.  Read up on the company, executive team, financials, and all else you may find.  Mentally walk through the major points you wish to get across on the interview or in your client meeting.  The more work you do upfront, the more credible you will appear.

People buy from people they know, like and trust.  You will have built the trust well, making you more likely to get the new job or sale.

Implementing these tips will put you on the wave of the Smooth Sale!
