Communication Techniques that Sell

A good exercise is to think back to the last person who completely turned you off because they were too aggressive.  Next, think about those from whom you purchase not once but continually over time.  What are the differnces between the two suppliers and how can you adapt the winning techniques to your authentic style?

Now that you know what and how you wish to communicate, review whether there may be misinterpretation of chosen words.  Watch this video to understand to what I am referring:

In fact, just yesterday I suggested to a friend her unusual use of a word made it sound as if the people she knew were up to something illicit.  We both had a good laugh.  Even if the feedback appears to be completely incorrect, it’s good to know other perspectives in order to avoid further misunderstanding.

Rarely do I use the word “always”, but in this case, if you are determined to get a specific job or interview, acquire a prospective client, or make a sale, Always communicate from tthe intended’s point of view.  This is better known as, “What’s in it for me?”

In short, communicate benefits, meeting your prospect’s goals, and advantages of your expertise and delivery style.  The builds the relationship and, in so doing, you will find the Smooth Sale!
