Are You A Resource?

Most of us routinely offer referrals, advice in our realm of expertise, and gladly offer a helping hand.  But admittedly, I was slow in recognizing another way to be a resource. Perhaps the idea may prompt you to do something similar as well.

Upon having my new book, INSPIRED Business published, I was encouraged by the publishing house, Motivational Press, to create a Resources page.  This was something I provided in the past but realized it was time to update the way in which a new one would be created.  My clientele is primarily entrepreneurial and interested in sales, marketing, branding, customer service, and everything associated with the variety of subject matter.  Accordingly, the Smooth Sale Resource page was created to address those topics and link to those I personally know who deliver the information well.

Should you consider doing something similar, please know an easy trap to get into is when others ask to be included on your resources page but you do not know them well nor how they deliver their services.  In order to maintain brand integrity, it is best to remain with those  you know and who are able to deliver quality information.  Freely sharing these links will attract additional prospective clients.  Those who are featured on your page may reciprocate by doing the same for you on their own site.  Link exchange may increase your website traffic and rating as the following of the other parties begin to connect with you.

Likewise, upon seeking a job or establishing your career, you may consider exchanging links with those who complement your goals and organizations to which you belong, particularly those for which you offer a helping hand.  As you help others, they will most often reach out to help you.

Initially being a resource may seem one-sided, but when done well, it becomes a win for all.  And that is the mantra for successful selling and experiencing the Smooth Sale!
