Give Every Opportunity an Opportunity!
Have you had people approach you online about a job or collaborating on a project? As you become better known this occurs more frequently. How do you decide which offer to explore and which to dismiss? Below are a few guidelines for you to consider:
1. Whenever I see, “you were chosen to receive $10,000,000 – just click here”; I almost do that. I click the junk icon to never be bothered again. My goal is to avoid nasty phishing or worse, shut down.
2. Anything sounding curious or reasonable, I investigate.
First, I research the website, the people if I haven’t heard of them and try to determine if our audience and desired outcomes are similar. Next, I email to ask questions on my mind, And should the answers be intriguing, then I request a phone conversation to learn more.
3. When it is someone I know well offering to partner or someone I have heard of, I again ask questions and request a conversation to learn more. This generally takes a back and forth of many email and a few conversations.
Why do I put so much upfront time in this? Your personal brand needs to hold integrity through all you do so that people recognize it in all of your projects, offerings, and work. The same guidelines hold true for seeking a job and interivewing. Ask many quesitons to determine if it matches what you stand for.
4. And finally, ask yourself, will the outcome bring the desired results you are seeking.
By giving serious consideration to opportunities presented, you will advance your business far more quickly, and you will be headed for a Smooth Sale!
